Genesis Canela is an Associate with The Busch Law Group, where she concentrates her practice on education law, with an emphasis on special education matters. She brings dynamic advocacy, strong investigative insight, and courtroom experience to help clients resolve emerging issues and navigate complex special education disputes.

Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Canela served as an Assistant Deputy Public Defender with the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender. In that role, she represented youth in trial proceedings from initial detention through disposition, arguing contested pre-trial motions and negotiating agreements on behalf of her clients. Her experience managing high-volume, sensitive caseloads and synthesizing complex facts into litigation and resolution strategies informs her practical, client-centered approach to school law.

Genesis earned her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and her Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Psychology from Davidson College.
